TONIGHT'S MATCHUP

POWER REPLAY: West Virginia plated eight runs in the second inning en route to a 9-4 win on Thursday night against Savannah. The Sand Gnats scored twice in the top of the second inning before a 12 batter, eight hit, eight run Power second. Willy Garcia drove in two in a pair in the inning and added a solo home run in the fifth to pace the offense. Zack Dodson earned the win with five innings of work while Orlando Castro pitched four shutout frames for his first save.

LEAGUE BEST: Alen Hanson stretched his hitting streak to a league-best 16 straight games with a second inning single. The infielder's streak has surpassed the 15 game run of Kannapolis's Rangel Ravelo that ended on Tuesday against Augusta. During this streak, Hanson has hit at a .429 clip with 30 hits in 70 at bats.

BELL DL'D: Josh Bell was placed on the Power's disabled list on Thursday. The outfielder injured his left knee on Tuesday night in the series opener with Savannah. The 19 year-old outfielder was batting .274 in 15 games with one home run and 11 runs batted in at the time of the injury. Bell became the first regular player to be placed on West Virginia's disabled list this season. Player/ Coach Vince Harrison has been on the disabled list since the outset of the season and will only be activated in an emergency.

MESA JOINS POWER: Carlos Mesa was added to West Virginia's roster on Thursday when Josh Bell was placed on the disabled list. Mesa was signed by Pittsburgh as a non-drafted free agent on March 23, 2011, and spent the entire season with State College last year. The outfielder hit .250 with the Spikes over 37 games and was named a mid-season All-Star in the New York-Penn League.

GREET THE METS: The Power lead the all-time series with the Sand Gnats 20-13 heading into the final game of this season series tonight. West Virginia has gone 12-6 at Appalachian Power Park against the SAL affiliate of the New York Mets since 2005.

HOMER DROUGHT: Prior to Willy Garcia's fifth inning home run Thursday, West Virginia's offense had not hit a home run since April 15, a stretch that spanned the entire seven game losing streak plus Wednesday's win. The Power hit 11 home runs over the first 11 games of the season. West Virginia has a 5-3 record in games when they hit a home run and are 2-10 record in games without.

HIGH QUALITY: Zac Fuesser pitched six innings on Wednesday for his first quality start of the season. Over 11 starts in 2011, the southpaw had four quality starts. Fuesser struck out eight Sand Gnats Wednesday to match Zack Dodson's effort last Friday for the most strikeouts by any Power pitcher in a single game this season.

PROMO UPDATE- APRIL 27: The Power are hosting a Charlies Reunion tonight at Appalachian Power Park. Former Charleston Charlies like Kent Tekulve, Steve Blass, and Dave Parker will be in attendance for the game and will sign autographs.

POWER POINTS: Alen Hanson leads West Virginia with 12 multi-hit games this season. Four players are tied for second with six multi-hit contests... Kirk Singer kept off the bases in each of the first two games of this series after having reached by hit or walk in each of his first 12 games played... Sunday's probable starter for Greensboro, Jose Fernandez, pitched the first six innings of a combined no-hitter on Tuesday.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh did not play Thursday and opens a four game series in Atlanta tonight... Indianapolis was idle on Thursday... Altoona staved off Harrisburg 6-4 to help Brandon Cumpton gain his second win... Bradenton fell 1-0 to Charlotte.
