Shorebirds Shutout Drive 6-0 to Win Series

Salisbury, Md. - For a second straight night, two Delmarva Shorebirds pitchers stifled the Greenville Drive in a 6-0 series finale win at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Friday night. Tyler Wilson and Devin Jones surrendered just four total hits. The Shorebirds pitching staff has not allowed an earned in 20 straight innings dating back to game two of the series on Wednesday night.

Shorebirds starter Tyler Wilson and Greenville starter Miguel Pena were engaged in a pitcher's duel over the first five innings. Both teams managed just two hits over the first five innings.

The Shorebirds broke through against relief pitcher Hunter Cervenka in the sixth inning. Glynn Davis drew a walk to open the sixth. Two batters later, Brenden Webb walked. With runners at second and third, Justin Dalles ripped a single to left field to give the Shorebirds a 2-0 lead. Two batters later, Sammie Starr hit a sharp liner down the left field line to give the Shorebirds a 4-0 lead.

Wilson (3-1) tossed six scoreless innings and allowed just two hits. He allowed just three total base runners. Wilson fanned a career high seven batters.

The Shorebirds added cushion to their lead in the eighth inning. Connor Narron drew a one out walk and Nicky Delmonico clubbed his second home run of the season over the right field wall.

Devin Jones retired the final seven batters he faced to pick up a three inning save. He allowed just one hit.

John Ruettiger extended his hit streak to 11 games with a single in the fourth and Glynn Davis extended his on-base streak to 16 games with a single in the fourth.

The Shorebirds play game one against the Asheville Tourists on Saturday at 7:05pm. LHP Eduardo Rodriguez is the scheduled starter for Delmarva.
