TUESDAY: West Virginia beat Greensboro 5-0 Tuesday night at Appalachian Power Park. Nathan Baker drove in three runs and Adenson Chuorio brought home the other two to back a stellar outing by Melkin Laureano. The right-hander allowed just four base runners over six innings and earned his second victory of the year while lowering his ERA to 1.40. Matt Montgomery was charged with the loss.

NOTHING & NADA: Power pitchers combined for their second shutout of the season on Tuesday night. West Virginia's other shutout occurred in the seventh game of the season; a 2-0 win at Charleston. The 2009 edition of the club completed seven shutouts, including the July 27 Hunter Strickland-Diego Moreno no-hitter against the RiverDogs. Five of the seven 2009 shutouts occurred at Appalachian Power Park, with the two road blankings happening at Lake County and Bowling Green.

TOP OF THE ORDER TO YOU: Evan Chambers is currently on a seven game hitting streak dating back to April 26. The Power centerfielder is batting .360 during the streak, which has partially coincided to his move to the leadoff spot in the batting order. In 10 games since being elevated to the top spot, Chambers is batting .333 and has an on-base percentage of .500. In those 10 games, West Virginia is 6-4.

STARTERS VS. RELIEVERS: Power starting pitchers are 6-10 this season with an earned run average of 4.30, while West Virginia relievers are 5-4 with a 3.12 ERA. The starters retired 74 batters on strikes while the relievers have struck out 72. Starting pitchers have done this over 117.1 innings and the bullpen has needed 95.1 innings to record nearly the same number of strikeouts.

HIGHS AND LOWS: Statistically speaking, Power hitters matched one season high and one season low in Monday's loss. West Virginia hitters walked six times against Curtis Petersen Monday, matching their high mark of the season, first set on April 25 in game two of the doubleheader at Kannapolis. Power hitters only reached base, however, on three hits. Monday marked the third time this season that Power hitters only managed three hits in a game, matching the output on April 9 at Savannah (5-0 loss) and April 14 at Charleston (2-0 win).

HISTORY WITH THE 'HOPPERS: The Power won the 2009 season series with the Grasshoppers 9-5. West Virginia won six of eight games at Appalachian Power Park and split a six-game set at Greensboro. The Power have gone 24-11 since 2005 at home against the Grasshoppers, while winning 22 of 33 at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro.

POWER POINTS: Power pitchers compiled the seventh best ERA during the month of April at 3.80. Rome had a league-low staff earned run average of 2.71, while Asheville had the league's highest at 4.81... West Virginia is 10-0 when scoring five or more runs in a game this season.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh edged the Chicago Cubs 3-2. Ryan Church and Andy LaRoche hit home runs to back Paul Maholm in the victory... Indianapolis lost 3-1 at Lehigh Valley... Altoona beat Richmond 9-1Six different Curve players drove in runs... Bradenton lost 10-6 at Palm Beach.
