Teheran Dominates in Braves Win

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Hagerstown Suns 7-1 in front of 1,859 fans at State Mutual Stadium Wednesday night led by a dominating pitching performance from Julio Teheran. Teheran went seven innings, surrendering zero runs on just four hits and ten strikeouts. Rome improves to 10-17 on the season.

Rome put two runs on the board in the third inning. Robert Hefflinger singled to score Osman Marval for the first run. Later in the inning L.V. Ware scored on an RBI ground out from Jordan Kreke.

The Braves extended the lead to 4-0 in the fourth as Matt Weaver tripled to right to plate Mycal Jones and Weaver later scored on a sacrifice bunt by Ware. Rome's bats remained hot as they scored again in the fifth inning. Jordan Schafer scored on a Kreke single to extend the lead to 5-0. Jones would get a sacrifice fly later in the inning to bring home Hefflinger.

Hagerstown scored their only run of the night in the eighth on a sacrifice fly from Francisco Soriano to plate Marcus Jones for the 6-1 total.

Rome added an insurance run in the bottom half of the inning for the 7-1 final. Weaver scored on a double to left field from Marval.

Julio Teheran (2-2) earns the win for Rome while Daniel Rosenbaum (1-1) picks up his first loss of the season for Hagerstown.
