Legends Crush Intimidators 17-4

For the fourth time this season the Kannapolis Intimidators fail in their attempt to go a game above. 500 as the Lexington Legends crush the Intimidators by the score of 17-4. The loss snaps the Intimidators (13-14) four game winning streak and for the Legends (12-15) they snapped their 6 game losing streak.

The game began well for the Intimidators as they scored two runs in the first inning on four hits off starter Tanner Bushue, but he would settle down and the Legends would begin to hit.

Off starter Justin Collop, the first two batters of the game reached and then JD Martinez hit a three-run home run to make it 3-2 after the first. Collop (0-3) ended up lasting just three innings, allowing 10 runs, all earned and 11 hits to the Legends who scored four in the second and three more in the third. Collop allowed 11 runs in his first start of the season against the Legends in early April.

Bushue (2-1) for the Legends settled down and went seven full innings, allowing 10 hits and four runs. He was relieved by Jose Trinidad who worked the final two innings.

Collop exited after the third inning, but the Legends kept hitting. They put up three more in the fourth, a single run in the sixth and three more in the seventh inning. Zach Piccola went two innings and allowed three runs, Phil Negus pitched to one batter and left due to an injury before Drew O'Neil pitched two innings and allowed three more runs and JR Ballinger pitched a clean bottom of the eighth. Of the 17 runs, 16 were earned on 20 hits. Jose Altuve had four hits, scored three times and 2 RBI, Jonathan Fixler had three hits and four RBI and every starter for the Legends team had at least one hit and had scored at least once.

For the Intimidators, Ian Gac had one hit and two RBI and Rafael Vera, despite making three fielding errors went 4-for-5 in the ballgame.

The Intimidators will look to get back to .500 on Thursday at 7:05 pm as Joe Serafin (3-2) takes to the hill. He will be opposed by Robbie Donovan (1-3).
