
Power Force Game into Extras But Fall Again

The West Virginia Power lost game two a three game series against the Charleston Riverdogs Sunday afternoon. The Power forced the game into extra innings, but fell 9-5 after a Riverdog rally in the eleventh.
The Power scored first picking up two runs in the second inning. Cole White led off the inning with a walk and advanced to third on a hit and run single by Chase Lyles. With Lyles in motion West Virginia succeeded with another hit and run with Elias Diaz shooting a line drive into right centerfield that scored White and Lyles and gave the Power a 2-0 lead.
The Riverdogs responded in the top of the third inning tying the score at 2-2. Charleston put up two runs on back to back singles from Kelvin De Leon and Mike Ferraro that each scored one run.
Cole White gave the Power a 3-2 advantage in the bottom of the fourth inning. White led off the inning with a home run lined to right centerfield.
Colton Cain started for the Power and pitched four and one third innings - allowing two runs on six hits and striking out four.
Charleston tied the game at 3-3 with a solo home run by Jeff Farnham in the sixth inning. The Riverdogs moved ahead 5-3 with a run in the eighth inning and then a solo round tripper by Kyle Higashioka in the ninth inning.
The Power were able to force extras collecting two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Rogelio Noris shot a double in the left centerfield gap that scored Chase Lyles and Elias Diaz tying the game 5-5.
The Riverdogs put together a rally for four runs in the top of the eleventh against Power reliever Kevin Decker bringing the score to its 9-5 final. Decker (2-3) took the loss for the Power pitching one inning and allowing four runs. Manny Barreda (4-1) picked up the win for Charleston as he was the pitcher of record when the Riverdogs collected four runs in the eleventh.
Charleston and West Virginia will close the three game series Monday evening at Appalachian Power Park. The rubber match of the series will see lefty Zac Fuesser for the Power against the right hander Scottie Allen for the Riverdogs. The game is a Family Buck Night with a scheduled 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
