Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
(Charleston, WV) - The West Virginia Power extended their season-best winning streak to five games with a 4-3 win over the Lakewood BlueClaws on Saturday night at Appalachian Power Park. The Power struck for two runs in the sixth behind a Jeff Roy RBI base knock.
The BlueClaws took the early lead in the second on a Jose Mayorga sacrifice fly scoring Zach Green. West Virginia answered with a pair in the bottom of the third when Harold Ramirez tripled home Roy.
Lakewood responded with a run in the fourth when a wild pitch scored Dylan Cozens and then took the lead in the sixth on a Cozens solo blast. West Virginia, however, would come right back with two runs on an Ashley Ponce RBI double followed by a two-out RBI single off the bat of Jeff Roy that gave the Power the lead to keep.
Power starter Dovydas Neverauskas (4-6) earned the win as Lakewood hurler Tyler Viza (2-11) was charged with the loss and Isaac Sanchez (5) tallied the save. Harold Ramirez extended his league-best hit streak to 20 games in with a three-hit performance.
West Virginia hosts the Lakewood BlueClaws on Sunday, June 29, at Appalachian Power Park. Power right-hander Zack Von Rosenberg will take the hill against the BlueClaws Julio Reyes. For tickets or more information, call 304-344-2287 or visit www.wvpower.com.
