
Power Dumped by Delmarva 6-4

(Salisbury, MD- May 28, 2015)- The West Virginia Power fell to the Delmarva Shorebirds 6-4 Thursday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The Shorebirds tagged Power starter Austin Coley with his third loss of the season after plating five runs over the first five innings.
The Power jumped to an early lead in the first. Cole Tucker singled, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error. Connor Joe's sac fly brought home Tucker for a short-lived 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the first, Logan Uxa tripled in Jay Gonzalez and Conor Bierfeldt for a 2-1 Shorebirds edge.
In the top of the third with one on, Jerrick Suiter hit a home run to left off the Shorebirds John Means to give West Virginia a 3-2 lead. Delmarva would, however, tie game in the bottom of the fourth on a run-scoring double by Gonzalez.
The Shorebirds took the lead with two runs in the fifth inning against Power starter Austin Coley. Bierfeld doubled and scored on a ground out and Riley Palmer hit a solo home run to extend the Delmarva lead to 5-3. Each team added a run in the sixth to close the scoring at 6-4.
Coley (6-3) was charged with the loss after allowing five runs, all earned, on seven hits over five innings with four strikeouts and two walks. John Means (3-2) picked up the win, Mike Burke worked two innings for a hold and Donnie Hart recorded the final three outs for his tenth save of the year.
Game two of this series is set for Friday evening at 7:05 pm. West Virginia will start right-hander Yuedy Garcia against the Shorebirds' Brian Gonzalez.
