In the home half of the first inning, the Power brought home one run against Shorebirds starter Jarret Martin. With two outs, Mel Rojas Jr. walked, stole second, and scored on a single by Justin Howard.
West Virginia continued the offensive attack in the third and fourth innings, scoring three times in the third and four times in the fourth. In the third, Rojas Jr. walked with two outs, as did Howard. Chase Lyles and Dan Grovatt followed with singles to account for three runs. In the fourth, the Power knocked Martin from the game with four runs scored on a total of four hits to build an 8-0 lead.

The Shorebirds plated two in the sixth as Navarro was coming to the end of his outing. Orlando Castro pitched the final three innings for his first save in the South Atlantic League save. Martin (5-10) took the loss after allowing all eight runs, four of which were earned due to three errors.
