Lexington Legends News Release

The Lexington Legends ended their losing streak at 10 games with a 4-2 victory over the Hickory Crawdads Friday night. Earlier, the Crawdads won 9-6 in a game that was completed after being suspended in the first inning Thursday night due to rain. Paducah, Ky. native Jonathan Roof got the Crawdads started in the opener with a three-run double in the bottom of the second inning. Roof came home on a single by Jake Skole to give the Crawdads a 4-0 lead. Christian Villanueva hit the first of his two homers in the game in the bottom of the third to make the score 5-0. The Legends came back with two runs in the fourth on RBI doubles by Telvin Nash and Ben Orloff. Lexington added another run in the fifth to cut the lead to 5-3, but Villanueva's three-run shot in the bottom of the fifth restored the five-run margin. Each team scored once in the sixth, with the Crawdads' run coming on a solo homer by former University of Louisville star Josh Richmond. Lexington added two runs in the ninth to close out the scoring.

In the second game, a seven-inning contest, Richmond's solo homer in the second inning put Hickory in front 1-0, but Delino DeShields Jr. tied the game with a leadoff homer in the third. Ruben Sosa followed with a single, and Domingo Santana's two-run homer gave the Legends the lead for good at 3-1. Each team scored a run in the seventh, and Hickory had the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the seventh when DeShields ranged into short center field to catch a pop fly hit by Kellin Deglan to end the game.
