Charleston RiverDogs News Release

CHARLESTON, SC - If one has the back-to-school blues or is simply looking for something to spice up an average weeknight, Charleston RiverDogs baseball offers the perfect solution. Charleston's favorite professional sports team returns to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park on Monday, August 22 for a four-game series against the Greenville Drive as fans have the opportunity now to see the Yankees and Red Sox stars of the years to come.

Members of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, including approximately 700 first-year Citadel Cadets - known as knobs - will be at Tuesday's game. It marks the first time that our Riley Park neighbors will be at a contest en masse.

The work week is no reason not to live it up, and the RiverDogs give Lowcountry fans the opening to do just that in the opener of the homestand. With $1 beers available in the Ashley View Pub, fans can forget all their worries while extending the weekend.

Off-beat promotions are part of the foundation of the "Be Your Own Fan" experience the RiverDogs strive to create, and the popular "Go Back to Ohio Night" is just one of many ways the club accomplished this goal. Whether you're from Cleveland, Columbus or Cincinnati, love the Indians, Browns, Cavs, Buckeyes or Reds, or just feel like dressing up like Ohioan, Thursday, Aug. 25 will be a day to enjoy for all involved.

The rest of the homestand slate is as follows:

Monday, August 22 - 7:05 p.m. vs. Greenville Drive: 98Rock Hair of the Dog Monday, 105.5 The Bridge Dogs with a Cause featuring Simply Divine Gardens

Spectators can come and enjoy a fun night out at the park and feel great about themselves as they support a great cause on 105.5 The Bridge Dogs with a Cause Night. This week's featured ally is Simply Divine Gardens, a non-profit organization which plants gardens to help brighten the spirits of area cancer patients. Research has shown that gardens can improve the emotional and physical well-being of patients while reducing the stress and anxiety of treatment, and Simply Divine Gardens has been following through on their mission since 2008. Fans will also be able to get over their case of the Mondays as they "Be Your Own Fan" of $1 beers in the Ashley View Pub.

Thursday, August 25 - 7:05 p.m. vs. Greenville Drive: Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, "Go Back to Ohio Night"

The always-popular "Go Back to Ohio Night" makes its return as Charleston concludes its eventful season-series with Greenville. Fans are encouraged to don Buckeye State-related apparel and have fun with a zany promotion that has become a RiverDogs staple. In-game promotions will also draw on the theme, and with apologies to former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel, absolutely no NCAA rules will be violated. If that was not enough, the RiverDogs turn The Joe into a club scene with $1 beers in the Ashley View Pub and fresh music courtesy of the stylings of DJ Natty Heavy. Kelly G from 95 SX's hit show Two Guys and a Girl, will also be on hand to throw the ceremonial first pitch and mingle with fans throughout the night.
