
Postseason Play Begins Sunday as Bears Head to Chicago

Last Week: The Bears concluded the 2002-2003 regular season with 4 games, beginning with a 7-4 loss at Norfolk on Wednesday night. After a 2-1 overtime setback at Philadelphia Friday night, HERSHEY came home in front of a sellout crowd Saturday night and defeated the Phantoms 4-2. Peter Budaj won his 10th game of the season Saturday in his final regular season appearance. The Bears then wrapped up the regular campaign with a 2-0 shutout victory over the Norfolk Admirals at GIANT Center. Phil Sauve earned his fifth shutout of the season, and also won his career high 26th win of the season.
Notables: Mark Freer ended the season on a two game goal streak. The Bears were 1-0-1 vs. Chicago in the regular season, with a 4-1 win at GIANT Center on November 9th, and a 2-2 tie at Allstate Arena in Chicago on March 29th. John-Michael Liles picked up his first professional point on Friday night in Philadelphia.
Colorado Update: The Avalanche won the Northwest Division title Sunday to claim the franchise's ninth straight division title, a new NHL record. Colorado opens the Stanley Cup Playoffs as the three seed in the Western Conference, and play the Minnesota Wild in the first round of the postseason. Game one between the Avalanche and the Wild is set for Thursday night in Denver.
