New York, April 7, 2003 -- New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that Rangers Vice President of Player Personnel and Assistant General Manager Don Maloney will serve as General Manager of the Hartford Wolf Pack, New York's American Hockey League affiliate. Maloney will be responsible for all of the hockey operations of the hockey club, previously managed by Al Coates, who has left the organization to accept a Senior Vice President of Business Operations position with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

"First, I would like to wish Al Coates all the best as he moves into this great opportunity with Anaheim," said Sather in making the announcement. "He has served our organization and the fans of Hartford admirably during his tenure. With his solid sports management background and knowledge, I am confident that Al will enhance the Mighty Ducks operation as he did ours. Don Maloney has a proven record of success with managing our efforts in Hartford and I know his guidance will allow us to continue the winning tradition of the Hartford Wolf Pack."

Maloney, who currently assists Sather on player transactions, entry level player contract negotiations and oversees the club's professional scouting operations, had served as General Manager of the Wolf Pack for three seasons prior to Al Coates' hiring on July 26, 2000. Under his administration, Hartford captured the 2000 Calder Cup championship.
