
Hossa, Komisarek and Ward to Join Bulldogs for Playoffs

The Montreal Canadiens, a parent club of the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs, have assigned forwards Marcel Hossa and Jason Ward, along with defenceman Mike Komisarek to Hamilton.
Hossa, a 21-year-old native of Ilava, Slovakia, joins the Bulldogs after playing in 34 games with the Canadiens this season where he earned six goals, seven assists and 13 points. The 6'2, 211 pound left-winger skated in 36 games for the Bulldogs recording 18 points, 12 assists and 30 points prior to his recall to Montreal on January 3rd. Hossa, the 16th overall pick in the 200 NHL Entry Draft, still has the AHL's best shooting percentage at 24.4%.
Komisarek, a 2002-03 AHL All-Rookie defenceman, returns to Hamilton where he played in 56 games with the Bulldogs earning five goals and 25 assists for 30 points, along with an AHL Rookie best plus-27 rating. The 21-year-old native of West Islip, NY was named to the starting lineup of the PlanetUSA team at the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic. The 6'4, 240 pound defenceman also skated in 21 games for the Canadiens posting one assist and 28 minutes in penalties.
Ward, an 2002-03 First Team AHL All-Star, was the AHL's leading scorer at the time of his recall (March 11) to the Montreal Canadiens. In 69 games with the Bulldogs, Ward scored 72 points on 31 goals and 41 assists. Ward, who was voted to the Canadian team starting lineup for the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic, played in eight games with Montreal recording three goals and two assists for five points. The 24-year-old Chapleau, Ontario native was also named the Hamilton Bulldogs American Specialty/HG Insurance/AHL Man of the Year for his commitment and contributions to the Hamilton this season. The 6'3, 200 pound forward was the 11th overall pick selected at the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
The Hamilton Bulldogs will begin their quest for the Calder Cup on Tuesday, April 15th and Thursday, April 17th as they will host either Portland, Manitoba or Springfield in the AHL Eastern Conference Quarter-Finals best-of-five series. Game time for each contest at Copps Coliseum is 7:00 p.m.
