STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Ports are still without a home win since May 20th. The Bakersfield Blaze completed a three-game sweep of the Ports on Friday night, taking the finale of the series by a final of 8-6 and using a pair of home runs by Tyler Marlette to get it done.

Each team scored in the first inning as the Blaze scored the initial run of the game on an RBI single by Chantz Mack. Stockton countered in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer by Joe Bennie to take a 2-1 lead. Stockton added to the lead in the third as Blaze starter Eddie Campbell (5-4) walked four batters in the frame. With runners at the corners and one out, Sandber Pimentel hit into a fielder's choice force play to score James Harris and make it a 3-1 Stockton lead.

Ports starter Casey Meisner (0-9) suffered his worst inning of the night in the fourth. With one out, Marlette hit a solo homer to left to cut the Blaze deficit to 3-2. Joe DeCarlo followed with a single and, two batters later, Joseph Rosa hit an RBI single to right to tie the game at 3-3. Drew Jackson followed with a two-run homer to give the Blaze a 5-3 advantage.

Meisner pitched into the fifth and, with one on and two out, gave up a two-run homer to Marlette, his second in as many innings, to give the Blaze a 7-3 cushion. Meisner had allowed just three home runs all season prior to allowing three on the night. He would go on to suffer his ninth straight loss after allowing seven runs (five earned) on nine hits over four-and-two-thirds innings.

Campbell, meanwhile, pitched around a pair of hits in the fourth and a walk and a double in the fifth to complete his outing. The left-hander would go on to pick up the win, going five innings and allowing three runs on six hits while walking a season-high seven and striking out two.

Osmer Morales came on to pitch the sixth for the Blaze and gave up a leadoff single to Richie Martin, who scored later in the inning on a bases-loaded walk coaxed by Seth Brown to cut the Stockton deficit to 7-4. Morales would get Iolana Akau to strike out with the bases loaded to end the inning and escape further trouble.

Oakland Athletics right-hander R.J. Alvarez came in to pitch the seventh on a Major League rehab assignment for Stockton. After striking out the first batter he faced, Alvarez gave up a solo home run to Justin Seager that increased the Blaze lead to 8-4. Alvarez went on to record a strikeout and a groundout following the home run to end the inning. He threw 15 pitches, 11 for strikes.

The Ports scored the final two runs of the game but couldn't overcome the deficit. With Isaac Sanchez on to pitch the seventh, Jose Brizuela hit a one-out solo homer to right to make it 8-5. Sanchez stayed in to pitch the eighth and gave up a one-out double to Bennie, who scored on a two-out RBI single by Akau to shear the Stockton deficit to 8-6. Sanchez allowed two runs on three hits in two innings of relief.

Vinny Nittoli (SV, 2) came on to pitch the ninth and set the side down in order, including a pair of strikeouts, to notch his second save of the season.
