Portland Winterhawks News Release
Hawks Happenings On The Ice:
Adin Hill backstopped the Hawks to a 3-0 shutout win over Seattle in Game 2 of their first round series last night. Hill, the Winterhawks' Rookie of the Year, stopped all 21 shots he faced for his first career postseason shutout. He had two blankings during the regular season, and led all WHL goalies with a .921 save percentage.
Through the first two playoff games against Seattle, the Hawks have had 11 different players register at least a point, led by a goal and two assists from Nic Petan. Among the players hitting the scoresheet have been the first career WHL playoff points for Blake Heinrich and Evan Weinger, with two apiece, along with Skyler McKenzie and Layne Viveiros.
Tuesday's Game 3 will be the first time since 2006 the Hawks will have played a playoff game in Seattle. In 2006 it was a first round series that went to a deciding Game 7 in Seattle. After the Thunderbirds opened a 3-0 lead, Portland fought back and forced overtime, with the Hawks' Jonathan Bubnick getting the winner to eliminate the Thunderbirds and get Portland into the second round.
Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:
With the series tied 1-1, tickets are on sale now for Saturday's Game 5 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. That will be a 6 p.m. start to avoid a direct conflict with the Trail Blazers game. Tickets can be purchased at winterhawks.com, the Rose Quarter box office, and the Winterhawks' ticket office in Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Group Parties of eight or more people receive a free Winterhawks hat with their ticket for all Round 1 playoff home games.
