Portland Winterhawks News Release
Hawks Happenings On The Ice:
Please note the special afternoon start time for Saturday's game against Seattle, as the game is set for 2 p.m. at the Coliseum. Media covering that evening's Trail Blazers game can come by the Coliseum beforehand to get highlights and interviews from the Winterhawks following the game.
Expect to see plenty of movement in the standings this week as the Winterhawks play four straight games against their division rivals. At the top of the U.S. Division, the Winterhawks and Spokane Chiefs are tied with 59 points apiece, with the Tri-City Americans just three points behind. The Winterhawks' game tomorrow against Tri-Cities is the first of five remaining against them, and Sunday's game against Spokane is the first of three left against the Chiefs.
The Winterhawks will be without four of their players for tomorrow's game against Tri-Cities, as Sven Bartschi, Joe Morrow, Ty Rattie and Tyler Wotherspoon will be in Toronto, Canada for the Canadian Hockey League's Top Prospects Game. The skills competition begins the festivities tomorrow, and the game is set for Wednesday night. Rattie, Morrow and Wotherspoon will play for Team Cherry, with Bartschi suiting up for Team Orr. All four players were ranked in the top-35 among North American skaters in last week's NHL Central Scouting's midterm rankings.
With those four players away, the Winterhawks are bringing in forward Nic Petan for tomorrow's game. Petan was the team's first round pick in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft, and posted an assist in his first WHL game on Dec. 18 in Seattle.
Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:
The Winterhawks are teaming up with the Oregon Conservation Network to celebrate Portland's commitment to the environment during the game Saturday.A portion of all group tickets sold will be donated to the OCN, and all season ticket holders, package holders and groups will receive a free Winterhawks reusable shopping tote.
