Cougars and the Home Depot Launch 2011 Backyard Rink Contest

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars, in partnership with The Home Depot, are proud to announce the launch of the 2011 Backyard Rink Contest.

This year, The Home Depot Backyard Rink Contest is open to everyone, whether you have built a backyard rink or not. In the event the contest winner ‚¬â„¢s rink is unplayable or have not built a rink, the winning family and selected members of the Cougars will play a game of street ball hockey at a location to be determined.

Last year, the Braaten family of College Heights was the local winner in the Home Depot Backyard Rink Contest - a nationwide event executed in several different markets.

"This is an event the Cougars always look forward to, especially for our players to meet with local families and children who look up to them," said Cougars Vice President Brandi Brodsky. "We also wanted to open this opportunity to more families in the community who love hockey, but are unable to make a backyard rink because of the incredible demands it takes to make an outdoor rink."

To enter, contestants must simply fill out a ballot at The Home Depot store at 5959 O ‚¬â„¢Grady Road, or at the Cougars office at the CN Centre. The contest ends at noon on February 18, 2011, and a winner will be decided in a random draw on Monday, February 21.

The winning family will host selected members of the Prince George Cougars for a game of shinny or ball hockey on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, from 5:00pm - 6:00pm.
