Regina Pats News Release
This Past Week:
Wednesday, January 12th Saskatoon Blades 3 @ Regina Pats 4
The Regina Pats continued their strong second half of the season with a 4-3 shootout win over the number one team in the WHL, the Saskatoon Blades. Lyndon Martell, Garrett Mitchell and Art Bidlevskii all scored for the Pats while Mitchell notched the shootout winner. Matt Hewitt was the man of the night as he stopped 59 Blade shots during play and 2 more during the shootout for his 7th win of the season.
Friday January 14th Edmonton Oil Kings 4 @ Regina 1
The Regina Pats continued to have problems with the Edmonton Oil Kings as they finished the season sweep of the Pats with the 4-1 victory at the Brandt Centre last night. Matt Hewitt stopped 34-38 shots and Shayne Neigum scored the lone goal in the loss. The Pats are 5 and 2 in the 2nd half of the season, with both of the losses coming at the hands of the Oil Kings. It was a great night though for the organization as one of the all-time best Pats, Mike Sillinger, saw his number raised to the rafters of the Brandt Centre.
Saturday January 15th Red Deer Rebels 6 @ Regina Pats 0
The Pats ran into a wall that 7 other WHL teams have faced in Rebel goaltender Darcy Keumper. He stopped 24 Pats shots en route to his league leading 8th shutout of the season. Matt Hewitt got his 3rd straight start and stopped 26 of 32 Rebel shots
Looking Ahead:
The Pats will play three games crucial to their pursuit of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference:
- Tuesday, the Pats will head to Prince Albert and take on the Raiders for the 5th time in just over a month with the home teams dominating the series. Jonathan Parker has been very good against the Pats with 9 points in those four games while Justin Maylan has 6 points. Jordan Weal has been the top scorer on the Pats side of things with 6 points in the four games.
- Friday will see the Pats head to Swift Current for the second time this season and 6th game between the two clubs. The Pats have won all 5 of the previous meetings.
- The Lethbridge Hurricanes will visit the Brandt Centre for the second and final time this season. The Pats won in a shootout in Lethbridge on October 15th, while the Hurricanes returned the favour in Regina on October 20th.
Goals for Kids:
Prairie Mobile Communications is proud to be back with "Goals for Kids". For ever goals the Pats score, Prairie Mobile Communications will donate $15 to the Ranch Ehrlo Outdoor Hockey League. The Pats have scored 137 goals so far this season raising $2055.00.
Community Appearances:
5 players toured the drug ravaged East Hastings area of Vancouver during their road trip, and are now set to bring back their storied to the school kids of Regina and the surrounding area as a part of the Project 1st Goal drug awareness program. The Regina Pats will be at Connaught School on Thursday, January 20th. The Pats will also be at Souls Harbor Youth Centre (Zeike's Place) on Wednesday at 7:00pm.
Prairie Mobile Pats Skills Competition:
It was a fantastic Sunday afternoon at the Co-operator's Centre for the 1st annual Prairie Mobile Pats Skills Competition. Team Blue ended up winning the competition with the final breakaway shooter 14-13. Over 1000lbs. of food and $300.00 was donated to the Regina and area Food bank.

- Jordan Weal is 7/8 in shootouts this season and 1/1 on penalty shots.
- Colin Reddin is 9 points away from 100 in his WHL career
- Matt Hewitt has played in three straight games for the first time in his young Pat career
- Myles Bell was just recently ranked 37th among North American skaters according to NHL CSS. He will be playing in the CHL Top Prospects game on January 19th.
- The Pats as a team are 7-1 in shootouts this season

Prospect Watch - Ty McLean:
The 15 year old forward played in his first WHL game this past Friday against the Edmonton Oil Kings. The 5th round pick of the Pats in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft is currently in the top 20 scorers in the SMAAAHL with 18 goals 14 assists for 32 points. He is also in the top 40 in the league in penalty minutes with 60.
A look to the Past - Matt Robinson:
Played with the Pats as a 20 year old in 2005-06 season and was third in team scoring. He is currently with the CHL's Wichita Thunder and is 4th on the club in scoring averaging more than a point a game. He is a teammate of another former Pat in Matt Hubbauer.
