Portland Wins in Extras over Harrisburg

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania - The Portland Sea Dogs (3-3) completed a comeback win, scoring two runs in the bottom of the tenth inning to take down the Harrisburg Senators (3-3), 4-3 on Thursday at FNB Field in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The Senators took the first lead of the game in the bottom of the second inning against Sea Dogs' starter Chris Murphy. K.J. Harrison doubled and came in to score on a double by Justin Connell, giving Harrisburg a 1-0 lead. In the next at-bat, Jacob Rhinesmith grounded out, advancing Connell to third. Jake Alu stepped up to the plate and knocked Connell in with a base hit, extending the Senators lead to 2-0.

The Sea Dogs chipped into the Senators lead in the top of the third frame against Harrisburg starter Ronald Herrera. Nick Sogard led off the inning with a double to right and David Hamilton singled, placing runners at the corners. Christian Koss grounded out to third, bringing in Sogard putting the Sea dogs on the board, 2-1.

In the top of the sixth inning, Portland added to their offense with Herrera still on the mound. Koss was hit by a pitch to lead off and advanced to second on a steal. Kole Cottam smacked a single to left, driving in Koss, and tying the game 2-2.

Both teams went scoreless over the last three frames, forcing the game into extra-innings. The Sea Dogs immediately got back onto the scoreboard in the top of the tenth against Senators reliever Ramon Santos. Wil Dalton was the placed runner at second, pinch running for Hudson Potts, and Sogard drove him in with a base hit to center, giving the Sea Dogs a 3-2 lead. Koss kept the offense going with a single to right, bringing in Sogard and increasing the Sea Dogs lead to 4-2.

In the bottom of the tenth inning, Justin Connell was the runner placed at second base for the Senators. He moved to third on a ground out by Jacob Rhinesmith then came to score on an RBI groundout by Jake Alu and the Senators continued to trail, 4-3. Frank German then struck out Jecksson Flores for the final out of the game to secure the victory.

German (1-0) tossed 2.0 scoreless innings and struck out four in his first win of the year. Ramon Santos (0-1) pitched 2.0 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on two hits while striking out four in his first loss of the season.

The Sea Dogs and Senators play the fourth game of a six-game series on Friday with a 7:00 PM ET first pitch. Portland sends RHP Victor Santos (0-1, 1.80 ERA) to the bump against Harrisburg RHP Richard Gausch (0-1, 12.00 ERA).
