Bridgewater, NJ - The Somerset Patriots (4-2) defeated the Erie SeaWolves (3-3) by a score of 5-4 on Thursday night at TD Bank Ballpark.
The SeaWolves struck first with an Andre Lipcius two-run home run (1) in the top of the first inning.
The Patriots cut the deficit in the bottom of the first as Elijah Dunham scored on a wild pitch.
Dillon Dingler brought in a third run for Erie via a sacrifice fly in the top of the third before Jeisson Rosario (1) tied up the game at 3-3 with a two-run home run in the bottom of the frame.
The Patriots took their first lead of the night in the bottom of the sixth with Chad Bell bringing in Josh Breaux on an RBI single and Michael Beltre scoring Blake Perkins on a sacrifice fly.
Dane Myers scored the SeaWolves' final run of the night in the top of the seventh with a solo home run (2), making it 5-4.
The Somerset bullpen pitched 4.0 innings, giving up an earned run and striking out seven batters. Matt Minnick (1-0) picked up the win, allowing an earned run in two innings of work and striking out two hitters. Derek Craft earned the save (1), recording the final two outs.
Sean Boyle made his Patriots debut, throwing 5.0 innings as the starter and allowing an earned run and five strikeouts.
With the win, the Patriots retake possession of first place in the division.
The Somerset Patriots 2022 season presented by Ford will continue at home on Friday evening with a 6:35 p.m. game against the Erie SeaWolves at TD Bank Ballpark.
