
Plekanec and Svitov Added to Bulldogs Roster

Montreal Canadiens' General Manager, Bob Gainey, announced today that forward Tomas Plekanec has been assigned to the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs. As well, the Tampa Bay Lightning have reassigned forward Alexander Svitov to Hamilton.
Plekanec, a 20-year-old native of Kladno, Czech Republic, enters his second season with the Bulldogs. The 5'10, 189 pound forward played in 77 games for the Bulldogs last season and recorded 19 goals and 27 assists for 46 points, along with 74 penalty minutes. Plekanec was selected by Montreal 71st overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Svitov, a 6'3, 198 pound forward, was originally selected by Tampa Bay third overall at the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Last season the 21 year-old native of Osmk, Russia played in 63 games with the Lightning scoring 8 points (4-4-8) and 58 minutes in penalties. Svitov is one of four players who have been assigned from Tampa Bay to Hamilton.
The Bulldogs will open their eighth American Hockey League season on the road - Friday, October 10th 2003 at 7:35 p.m. when they travel to Rochester to face the Americans. After playing on Saturday, October 11th in Cleveland against the Barons (7:05 p.m.), the Bulldogs will return to Hamilton for their home opener on Thanksgiving Day - Monday, October 13th at 4:00 p.m. versus their newest division rival, the Toronto Roadrunners.
