Worcester IceCats News Release
WORCESTER, MA- During their annual Media Day event, the Worcester IceCats announced their All-Time Team. The team was assembled after a summer-long online campaign at worcestericecats.com, where fans were encouraged to vote for the finest players in IceCats history.
The roster, which honors players from the previous nine seasons and some set to participate in the 2003-2004 campaign, includes seven defensemen, 10 forwards and two goaltenders. The goaltender, two defensemen and three forwards that received the most votes were named starters.
The starting lineup for the All-Time Team is goaltender Dwayne Roloson, defensemen Barret Jackman and Bryce Salvador, along with forwards Eric Boguniecki, Justin Papineau and Marty Reasoner.
The team is rounded out in goal with Brent Johnson. Terry Virtue, Matt Walker, Ed Campbell, Rory Fitzpatrick and Ricard Persson are the defensemen. Forwards also voted to the team are Ladislav Nagy, Jeff Panzer, Stephane Roy, Jochen Hecht, Johnny Pohl, Michal Handzus and Reed Low.
To commemorate the All-Time Team, the IceCats commissioned local artist Neil Portnoy. The Holden resident created a pen and ink illustration, which was unveiled to the Media Day contingent. The piece features the starting six and will appear on the cover of the IceCats 10th Anniversary Program.
The IceCats will open their 10th Anniversary season on the road against the Manchester Monarchs on October 10th. The following night, Worcester will host the Providence Bruins at 7:05 PM. Tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster locations, including the Box Office at Worcester's Centrum Centre. For more information call 800-830-CATS.
