Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
Swing of the Quad Cities playoff tickets for the 2007 post-season will go on sale Wednesday morning, the Swing of the Quad Cities announced on Tuesday. Additionally, Davenport residents will have the opportunity to obtain tickets for the first-round at half-price.
"We're absolutely thrilled about the chance to make the playoffs," said Swing General Manager Ben Burke. "We thought it would be a great chance to thank our fans here in Davenport by letting residents in for half-price."
The Swing currently sit in first place in the Midwest League's Western Division, holding a 4.5-game lead over a trio of teams battling it out for the post-season. With eight games remaining in the regular season, the Swing have a magic number of three to clinch a playoff berth.
"We've had a great year, but we've got plenty more to do," said Swing manager Keith Mitchell. "Our goal right now is to finish the regular season with the best record in the league, which is something we feel that we've got a great shot at doing. After that, the next step is to bring a championship back to the Quad Cities."
The Swing have an overall record of 77-54 this season, just 1.5 games behind West Michigan for the best overall record in the 14-team Midwest League. Quad Cities last won a championship in 1990, when skipper Don Long guided the Quad Cities Angels to an 81-59 regular season record and a league title.
Should they qualify for post-season play, the Swing will play their first playoff game on Wednesday, September 5, at John O'Donnell Stadium. Davenport residents will be able to purchase any tickets for the 6:30 p.m. game at half-price with proof of residence.
Tickets for all of the Swing's potential playoff games will be available for purchase at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, with a full refund available for tickets purchased for games that do not end up happening.
