
Players' Wives Family Food Drive Collects More than 2,000 Pounds of Food for Local Families

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento River Cats announced today that their fourth-annual Players' Wives Family Food Drive collected more than 2,000 pounds of food and $2,103 for local families.
Fans at tonight's game received one autographed photo of their favorite River Cats player for each non-perishable food or monetary donation made. The players' wives and families were stationed at each gate to Raley Field from 5-6:30 p.m., and all items collected were donated to the Yolo Community Food Bank.
"Tonight's Players' Wives Family Food Drive was very successful, and we would like to thank all of the fans who contributed," said Aubrey Koonce, wife of River Cats first baseman Graham Koonce. "The fans in Sacramento have been supportive of the River Cats and all of our families, so we are glad to be able to give back in this way."
Fans will have two additional opportunities to contribute to the Players' Wives Family Food Drive, Aug. 13 and Aug. 15 at the Yolo County Fair in Woodland, Calif. The Players' Wives Family Food Drive has collected more than 12,000 pounds of food and $6,403 during its four events (2000-03).
The River Cats will begin an eight-game roadtrip (Fresno, Tucson) tomorrow in Fresno. They will return to Raley Field Aug. 19 to play the Las Vegas 51s in the first game of a 10-game homestand (Las Vegas, Tucson).Tickets for all River Cats home games are available at the Raley Field Ticket Office, on the internet at www.rivercats.com and at all Tickets.com outlets (select Raley's & Bel Air stores).
