Harrisburg Senators News Release

Sunday afternoon at Waterfront Park in Trenton the Sens and Thunder battled through ten innings before Francisco Plasencia homered leading off the 11th to give the Sens a 2-1 win.

Carlos Martinez earned the save in the game, retiring the final three batters in the 11th with the tying run in scoring position.

Atahualpa Severino picked up his first win going three scoreless innings, striking out three and walking one. Cory VanAllen pitched two scoreless innings as the Sens combined to shut out the Thunder over the final nine innings of the game.

Harrisburg scored the tying run in the seventh on a single by Freddie Bynum, driving in Sean Rooney to tie the game at 1-1.

One day after committing seven errors in the doubleheader, the Sens defense was outstanding Sunday. They turned three double plays to short circuit innings for Trenton and Leonard Davis made the catch of the year in right center field in the first inning on a drive off the bat of Mat Cusick.

Bynum had two hits for the Sens who earned a split in the four-game series and are now 52-61 on the season.

The two teams combined to score ten total runs in the four game series. Trenton won 1-0 on Friday and 3-2 in game one on Saturday while the Sens won 1-0 in game two Saturday to go with their 2-1 win on Sunday afternoon.

After an off-day Monday the Senators open up a three-game series in Binghamton on Tuesday night at 7:05pm against the B-Mets. The two teams will play three night games this week in Binghamton. The Sens return home Friday night to take on the Thunder in a three-game weekend series.
