
Campbell, Quintana hit homers for Fisher Cats in loss

Manchester, NH---Scott Campbell hit his third home run of the season and David Cooper went 3-for-4 with a double and two singles, but the Altoona Curve beat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 6-3 before 6,375 Sunday afternoon at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
Altoona (47-68) opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first inning against starting and losing pitcher Randy Boone (8-7). Gorkys Hernandez (2-for-5, 2 R) doubled and scored on a single by Pedro Alvarez (4-for-5, RBI) to make it 1-0 Curve. Alvarez stole second base and moved to third base on a single by Miles Durham (2-for-5, RBI). Jason Delaney's single plated Alvarez to give Altoona a 2-0 lead.
The Curve extended the lead in the top of the third inning. Alvarez led off with a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a double by Durham to make it 3-0. Jeff Corsaletti walked. After Jonel Pacheco moved both runners up on a groundout before Angel Gonzalez doubled them both home to put Altoona up 5-0.
Campbell (2-for-4, HR, RBI) hit a solo home run, his third of the season, with two outs in the bottom of the third inning to get the Fisher Cats on the board at 5-1.
Altoona made it 6-1 in the top of the fourth inning. Shelby Ford (2-for-5, RBI) picked up his ninth RBI of the three-game series, drilling a double and knocking in Hernandez who had reached on an infield single.
New Hampshire (51-63) added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Cooper singled, Adam Calderone singled and Darin Mastroianni moved the runners up with a sacrifice bunt. Cooper scored on a groundout by Nick Gorneault to make it 6-2 in favor of the Curve.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Al Quintana (2-for-4, HR, RBI, R) led off with a solo home run to cut the lead to 6-3. Jonathan Diaz then walked and Todd Donovan singled Both moved up on a passed ball. After Campbell and Emaus each flied out, Altoona closer Scott Nestor came on and walked Cooper to load the bases for Calderone. Nestor struck out Calderone to end the game and earn his ninth save.
Altoona starter Yoslan Herrera improved to 9-0. He worked 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on eight hits. He walked two and struck out two.
Boone allowed ten hits and five runs in falling to 8-7 for the Fisher Cats. Matt Hensley and Nate Starner each worked two innings of scoreless relief for New Hampshire.
New Hampshire second baseman Brad Emaus went 1-for-5. His infield single in the third inning extended his hit streak to a season-high ten games. The Fisher Cats open a six-game road trip on Tuesday night at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie. RHP Kenny Rodriguez (2-3, 4.21) will start for New Hampshire. RHP Pedro Beato (0-1, 7.20) is scheduled to start for the Baysox. Radio coverage begins at 6:45pm with the BayRing Communications Pre-Game Show on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Mike Murphy.
The Fisher Cats return home on Tuesday, August 18 at 7:05pm to play the Connecticut Defenders.
