
Pittsburgh Assigns Curry To Wranglers

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers ® announced today the team has received goalie John Curry on assignment from the National Hockey League's Pittsburgh Penguins.
The netminder arrives after starting the season with the American Hockey League's Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins. Curry participated in training camp in both Pittsburgh and in Wilkes-Barre / Scranton but, he has yet to make his pro debut. The first-year goalie played the last four years at Boston University, posting a 59-29-15 record as a three year starter. The 23-year old averaged a 2.08 goals against and a .923 save percentage in 107 collegiate appearances. Curry was a walk on as a freshman and assumed the starting job in his sophomore season. In 2004-05, the Sherwood, MN native posted an 18-11-3 record with three shutouts, a 2.01 goals against average and a .922 save percentage. During his junior season, Curry set a personal high with 24 wins in 37 appearances. Curry's senior year was perhaps his best. The netminder recorded seven shutouts, a 2.01 goals against average, a 17-10-8 record and a .928 save percentage. After earning All-American second team honors his junior season, Curry was named All-American first team and a Hobey Baker Finalist in 2006-07.
The Wranglers start their season in Fresno on Friday, October 19th, at 7:30 pm. Las Vegas will host Stockton for Opening Night on Sunday, October 21st.

The Wranglers play all 36 home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue. Las Vegas will host Opening Night on Sunday, October 21st at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena.
