Opening Weekend Kicks Off Friday

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL will commence their third season in the Valley of the Sun with a three-game opening weekend series against the visiting Utah Grizzlies beginning at 7:11 p.m. Friday.

The first 2,000 fans Friday will receive a 2007-08 Phoenix RoadRunners replica jersey, and the entire 2007-08 team will be introduced during a special on-ice pre-game ceremony.

Saturday, the RoadRunners host the Grizzlies at 7:11 p.m. for "Shriners Kids Day at the RoadRunners". More than 100 children from Shriners Children Hospital and their families will be on hand, and Evolution Custom Cycles and El Zaribah Shrine Motorcycle Unit will host a special ride to US Airways Center beginning at 2:00 p.m. and arriving on the USAC Plaza at approximately 5:30 p.m. 100 motorcycles will partake in what's being called "We Ride So Kids Can Walk". Shriners will be selling chuck-a-pucks during the game for $1.00 each or six for $5.00 and all proceeds will benefit the Shriners Children Hospital. Local political leaders Jerry Weiers, Debra Pierson, and Trent Franks will also be in attendance.

In addition, the first 3,000 fans will receive a 2007-08 Phoenix RoadRunners magnet schedule.

Sunday, the RoadRunners conclude their weekend series against the Grizzlies with a special 5:00 p.m. start time. Following the game, all fans are invited down to the ice for the first of four "Sunday Skates with the RoadRunners". Fans must bring their own skates to participate in the event.

The RoadRunners return to US Airways Center at 7:11 p.m. Friday when they host the Utah Grizzlies to commence their third season in the desert.
