Pit Spitters Drop Third Straight Series Opener

Traverse City, MI - The road trip has not been kind to Traverse City (6-3), as the Pit Spitters lose three of five, their third straight series opening loss, in a 10-5 final against the Battle Creek Bombers (3-5).

The Pit Spitters started hot, scoring three runs in the first three innings. Chris Monroe extended his hit streak with an RBI single in the first. He also recorded an RBI in the third, giving him nine on the year.

Aidan Brewer doubled in the second and scored on a Johannes Haakenson RBI single, making the lead 3-0.

For the second straight day, the Pit Spitters gave up a four-run inning. Morgan Lunceford (0-1) gave up three straight RBI singles, going down 4-3 in the game. The four-run inning didn't come back to hurt last night, but the Bombers capitalized on big innings. They would tally another four-run inning in the seventh, pulling out of reach.

Christian Faust extended his on-base streak to nine games in the third. His RBI sacrifice fly in the seventh gave him a team high 10 RBI's, tied with Colin Summerhill for the team lead. He also scored his 10th run of the season, tying him for the lead in that category as well. Trey Truitt scored two runs to tie Faust for the lead.
