Pinizzotto and Stingrays down Chiefs 4-2

North Charleston, S.C. - Steve Pinizzotto scored two goals, and added an assist to help the South Carolina Stingrays make it six wins in a row, sweeping the Johnstown Chiefs at the North Charleston Coliseum.

"When you start to get some wins under belt, you get confidence," said Head Coach Jared Bednar. "That confidence seems to be infectious."

The Rays went down early in the first period when Alexander Imbeault scored his 8th goal of the season, on the power play. That would be the only scoring in the period.

In the second period Imbeault scored again to make it a 2-0 nothing before the Stingrays were able to get on the board. They would however cut the lead in half at 5:42 when Marty Guerin notched his 5th goal of the season from Travis Morin and Scott Romfo.

In the 3rd period, South Carolina tied things up quickly. Just 14 seconds into the period, Stephen Werner scored past Ryan Nie, from Pinizzotto and Nate Kiser. After that it was all Stingrays. Pinizzotto scored his 8th goal of the season at 5:47 from Werner and T.J. McElroy. He then got his 9th of the year at 18:34 from McElroy and Trent Campbell, for the eventual final, 4-2.

Then winning goaltender was Josh Johnson who stopped 14 of the 16 shots that he faced. The losing goaltender was Nie who stopped 24 of the 28 shots he faced. The Rays went 0 for 6 on the power play, while killing off 6 of the 7 short handed situations they faced.

The Rays will have nine days off before welcoming in the Pensacola Ice Pilots for a couple games starting on Wednesday the 19th of December.
