
Condors Beaten by Aces in Weekend Series Finale

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces power play scored five times en route to a 7-2 victory over the Bakersfield Condors in front of 6,251 at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage Saturday night.
Despite allowing just six shots in the period, the Condors (5-13-5, 15 points) were victimized by Alaska (13-8-1, 27 points) three times in the opening stanza, including two power play goals on two opportunities. F.P. Guenette put the Aces on the board first with a power play tally at 8:08. Alaska scored two more times in the span of 35 seconds late in the first. Bo Cheesman and Barrett Heisten both lit the lamp as well, and the Aces took a 3-0 lead into the dressing room.
Yutaka Fukufuji replaced starter Jamie Hodson at the beginning of the second period for the Condors, but the Aces padded their totals. Cheesman (his second of the game, at 3:30), Gino Guyer (at 4:14) and Josh Soares (at 7:53) extended the lead to 6-0 for Alaska, scoring three goals on their first four shots of the period. Bakersfield got on the board in the frame, with Kevin Truelson ripping home his fifth of the season on the power play at 10:48.
The two clubs exchanged tallies in the third period, as Justin Chwedoruk notched his seventh of the season at 9:59 for Bakersfield. The Aces answered with a power play goal, their fifth of the game, by Soares. Bakersfield outshot the Aces 24-21 in the contest, but fell by the 7-2 final.
The Condors return home to host the Fresno Falcons on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 7 pm. Also that night, the Condors will retire the #28 in a ceremony to honor Condors Legend Jamie Cooke. Doors open at 6 p.m., puck drops at 7 p.m.
Notes: F Todd Griffith recorded an assist tonight, extending his point streak to six games (5g- 2a)... F Maxime Lincourt now has two points (2a) in his first two pro games with an assist tonight as well.
