Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Charleston, SC - The Johnstown Chiefs' record fell below .500 for the first time since October 21 thanks to a 4-2 loss at the hands of the South Carolina Stingrays.

The Chiefs got on the board first with Alex Imbeault's power play goal at 6:52 of the first period. Imbeault got a lucky bounce as his pass intended for Mark Tobin deflected off of a Stingrays defenseman past goaltender Josh Johnson.

In the second period Imbeault would score for the second time to extend the Chiefs' lead to 2-0. On a beautiful play all-around Imbeault took a long cross-ice pass from Kenny Roche to get behind the Stingrays defense on a breakaway, then beat Johnson with a backhand shot.

Marty Guerin put a slaphsot past Ryan Nie 5:42 into the second to make the score 2-1, which is how the second would end.

The Stingrays went to work quickly in the third period as Stephen Werner tallied just 14 seconds into the third period, putting a fluke goal past Nie from behind the goal line. Steve Pinizzotto took off then with two goals to set the final score.

Nie made 24 saves on 28 Stingray shots, and the Chiefs power play was 1-for-6.

The Chiefs' next home game is on Friday December, 21 against the Cincinnati Cyclones. The PA Lottery is sponsoring a scratch off ticket giveaway at that game, and Santa Clause will also be on hand for the Chiefs' Christmas celebration! Then don't forget about the Hanson Brothers appearance, sponsored by the Tribune Democrat, at the game on Saturday Decmeber, 22.
