
Pigs Fall in 9th to Chiefs, 2-1

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (62-78) dropped the series opener to the Syracuse Chiefs (64-76) by a score of 2-1 on Thursday night at Coca-Cola Park.
In the top of the ninth, Pigs RHP Seth Rosin issued a two-out walk to Isaac Ballou who stole second and later scored when Darin Mastroianni reached on an error charged to Lehigh Valley SS Chase d'Arnaud to give the Chiefs a 2-1 lead.
Rosin (2.0 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB) was tagged with the loss for the IronPigs and falls to 4-3 on the year.
RHP Sam Runion (0.2 IP, H, K) earned the win for Syracuse and is now 2-3 on the season.
RHP Juan Gutierrez (1.0 IP, 3 K) struck out the side in the ninth to pick up his fourth save of the year.
Pigs starter David Buchanan and Chiefs starter Richard Bleier traded zeroes through the first six innings.
Buchanan (n/d) gave up five hits while walking two and fanning seven in six innings of work.
Syracuse took a 1-0 lead in the top of the eighth as Emmanuel Burriss led off with a double, moved to third on a single and scored on Scott Sizemore's sac fly.
Lehigh Valley tied it at one with a run in the eighth when Tyler Pastornicky reached with a one-out double, went to third on a single and came home on Russ Canzler's RBI single.
Bleier (n/d) allowed a run on six hits to go along with a walk and four strikeouts in 7.1 IP.
LHP Ken Roberts (1.0 IP, H, K) tossed a scoreless inning in relief for the IronPigs.
The series wraps up on Friday at 7:05 p.m. as RHP Sean O'Sullivan (4-2, 3.58) will make the start for the Pigs against Chiefs RHP Scott McGregor (6-5, 4.02).
