
Pigs Drop Second Straight to PawSox, 6-2

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (24-21) dropped their second straight to the Pawtucket Red Sox (23-23), this one by a score of 6-2 on Wednesday night at McCoy Stadium.
Sam Travis' three-run shot in the bottom of the third off of Pigs starter David Buchanan gave Pawtucket a 3-0 lead. Following the home run, back-to-back doubles from Chris Marrero and Bryce Brentz opened up a 4-0 lead for the PawSox.
In the home half of the fourth, Jantzen Witte reached on a throwing error charged to Pigs 3B Taylor Featherston, advanced to second on the play, to third on a single and scored when Mike Miller grounded into a force out to give the Red Sox a 5-0 lead.
Cam Perkins' solo shot off of PawSox starter Roenis Elias in the top of the fifth brought the IronPigs within 5-1. The home run was Perkins' (1-3, HR, RBI, R, BB) third of the season.
Elias (2-3) gave up one run on three hits to go along with two walks and eight strikeouts in
Travis drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the fifth and later scored from first on Brentz's RBI double to give the PawSox a 6-1 advantage.
Buchanan (2-3) allowed the six runs (five earned) on six hits while walking two and fanning two in five innings of work.
The Pigs cut the lead to 6-2 with a run in the ninth as Nick Williams led off with a double and later scored on Andrew Knapp's RBI double.
RHP Michael Mariot (1.0 IP), RHP Luis Garcia (1.0 IP) and LHP Bobby LaFromboise (1.0 IP, H) each had a scoreless outing in relief for manager Dave Brundage's squad.
The series wraps up on Thursday at 11:05 a.m. as RHP Jake Thompson (2-4, 3.33) will be on the bump for the Pigs against PawSox LHP Henry Owens (3-1, 2.57).
