Louisville Bats News Release
MOOSIC, Pa. - The Louisville Bats dropped game two of a three-game set with Scranton Wilkes-Barre, 7-1. Right-hander Anthony DeSclafani (0-1, 9.00) got the loss in a rehab start in his first career game with Louisville, surrendering three earned runs on three hits, striking out two, and throwing 37 pitches (27 strikes) in three innings of work.
DeSclafani gave up a three-run shot to Scranton first baseman Chris Parmelee in the first inning, providing enough run support for starter Phil Coke (1-0, 0.75), who went five innings, giving up a run on four hits with four strikeouts, to earn his first win of the season. The RailRiders went on to add a run in both the fourth and fifth innings, and padded their lead with a two-spot in the eighth.
The Bats didn't do much in the offensive department, with only an RBI double from center fielder Scott Schebler in the fourth inning to put Louisville on the scoreboard. Right fielder Jesse Winker had the only multi-hit game for the Bats, going 2-for-4.
Relievers Stephen Johnson, Matt Magill, J.J. Hoover, and Drew Hayes combined for five innings out of the bullpen, surrendering a collective four runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out five and walking six.
Louisville falls to 23-22 overall and 14-9 in road games this season, still the best road winning percentage (.609) in the International League after May 25.
The Bats and RailRiders will square off for the final time this season on Thursday, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Louisville is 2-4 on the year vs. Scranton, with the current series tied 1-1. Right-hander Jon Moscot (0-2, 9.82) will look to bounce back from his last start for the Bats. He'll oppose Scranton lefty Tyler Olson (1-1, 4.66), who pitched four scoreless innings against Louisville on May 18.
