
'Pigs Celebrate a Career with Win on the 4TH

(Allentown, PA) - Lehigh Valley IronPigs (42-36) pitcher Aaron Barrett pitched the final game of his career in a 5-1 win on Monday evening against his former team, the Rochester Red Wings (41-38). Barrett was able to retire the side to start the game and left to a standing ovation from both dugouts and the fans in attendance.
After Barrett left the game, Jake Newberry pitched two innings of relief for the IronPigs. Rochester scored a run in the top of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead as Jake Noll hit an RBI single that scored Josh Palacios. Lehigh Valley tied the game at 1-1 against Carson Teel in the bottom of the third inning as Dalton Guthrie hit an RBI single that scored Daniel Robertson.
Braeden Ogle pitched a scoreless inning of relief and then was followed by James Marvel (3-6) pitching 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Lehigh Valley took a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning against Jefry Rodriguez (1-2) as Robertson hit a three-run double and Ali Castillo added an RBI single.
JoJo Romero made a Good Shepherd Rehabilitation appearance by pitching 2/3 of an inning in the top of the seventh inning. Nick Duron added a scoreless inning in the top of the eighth inning. Tyler Cyr pitched a scoreless inning of relief to close out the game.
The IronPigs and Red Wings will be off on Tuesday and resume their series on Wednesday. First pitch on Wednesday at Coca-Cola Park is at 7:05 p.m.
