
New York Mets Promote Top-Ranked Prospect, Francisco Álvarez, to Triple-A Syracuse

Syracuse, NY - New York Mets top prospect Francisco Álvarez has been promoted to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday. The catcher is the top-ranked prospect in the New York Mets organization, according to MLB Pipeline and Baseball America.
The 20-year-old began the 2022 season with Double-A Binghamton where he hit .277 with 47 RBIs, 18 home runs, 16 doubles, a .368 on-base percentage, and a .921 on-base plus slugging percentage.
At the time of his call up, Álvarez ranked fourth in the Double-A Eastern League in home runs, sixth in RBIs, second with 34 extra-base hits, and fifth in on-base plus slugging percentage.
The Venezuela native signed with the New York Mets as an international free agent in July 2018.
Álvarez is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the sixth-best prospect in all of baseball and by Baseball America as baseball's tenth-ranked prospect.
