Fireworks on and off the Field Lead to Record Breaking Night at Werner Park

Papillion, Neb. - The Storm Chasers started the series with a bang, breaking modern franchise record for home runs in single game with nine while setting a season-high in attendance at over 8,500. The game featured two batters with multi-home run nights for just the second time this season.

The Omaha Storm Chasers (38-39) took down the Toledo Mud Hens (40-37) 20-6. The season series is now tied at 3-3.

Center fielder Roman Quinn started off the Chasers half of the first with a homer, the second time Omaha has hit a first-inning leadoff homer this season.

Toledo responded in the top of the second with four of their own, highlighted by a three-run homer to take the lead 4-1.

Third baseman Clay Dungan started the bottom of the second with a walk and designated hitter Freddy Fermin moved him to second with a single. Catcher José Briceño cleared the bases with a home run. Two batters later, Quinn hit his second homer in his second plate appearance to retake the lead.

The Storm Chasers continued their hot bats in the frame, this time using a long ball from right-fielder Nate Eaton to make the score 6-4 in favor of Omaha in the second. The second inning was the second time this year that Omaha launched three homers in an inning.

Fermin hit a homer of the game in the third to extend Omaha's lead.

To start the fourth, Eaton hit his second dinger of the game. Eaton and Quinn were the second duo to hit multi-home runs in the same game. The first time came on June 20 at Memphis when the Chasers won 9-6

Second baseman Michael Massey was hit by a pitch before left-fielder Brewer Hicklen hit a triple to score Massey. Dungan scored Hicklen with a base hit to give Omaha their 10th run of the game.

First baseman Nick Pratto joined in on the fireworks with his 14th home run of the season in the fifth. Eaton hit a single before Massey hit a double that would score a run. Hicklen recorded another hit to put runners at the corners with only one out.

Dungan singled to score another run in the frame. Catcher William Hancock became the 10th Chaser to record a hit in the game with an RBI single. Shortstop Iván Castillo came up and hit an RBI single to put the lead at 15-4 after the fifth.

Left-hander Austin Cox (Win, 3-4) tossed 5.0 innings while allowing four earned runs with four strikeouts.

Pratto drew a leadoff single and moved to second with a wild pitch in the sixth before moving to third with a groundout. Massey hit a homer to put the score at 17-4.

The Mud Hens answered with a pair of runs in the seventh before Castillo launched the team's ninth homer of the night, breaking the Werner Park record for homers by a team in a single game.

Hicklen drew a walk in the eighth, coming in to score on a Fermin double, putting a run up for Omaha in every inning they came to bat. A Hancock walk and Castillo single juiced the bases before Quinn hit a sacrifice fly to score the game's final run.

Omaha hosts a doubleheader against Toledo on Wednesday. Game one will start at 5:05 p.m. and game two will begin approximately 30 minutes after the ending of the first. Coverage will begin on the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame show on 1180 The Zone at 4:45 p.m.
