Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Lewin Díaz's double in the ninth inning Monday gave the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp a 1-0 win over the Norfolk Tides in front of 8,902 fans from 121 Financial Ballpark.
With the game scoreless through eight innings, Willians Astudillo led off the ninth with a single off Norfolk (38-41) reliever Logan Gillaspie (3-2) before being replaced by pinch-runner Bryson Brigman. Díaz then blasted a ball off the wall in right-center to score Brigman for the Jumbo Shrimp's (43-36) third walk-off win of the season.
Until Díaz's walk-off double, neither side was able to get a runner even to third base all evening. Elieser Hernández fanned a season-high nine batters in 5.0 innings of two-hit ball before giving way to Huascar Brazoban, who struck out four in 2.1 frames. Andrew Nardi (3-0) was perfect in his 1.2 innings, punching out three batters.
