Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (40-52) managed just five hits in a 6-0 loss to the Rochester Red Wings (50-42) on Thursday night at Frontier Field.
Rochester took an early 3-0 lead with three runs in the first as Oswaldo Arcia delivered the big blow with a two-run blast and Danny Ortiz plated a run with an RBI double. It was Arcia's ninth home run of the season.
Pigs starter Aaron Nola has allowed just three home runs in 32.2 IP since being promoted to Triple-A and two of them have been hit by Arcia at Frontier Field.
A three-run fourth opened up a 6-0 lead for the Wings. Ortiz came through with a solo shot in the inning and Eric Farris drove home a pair via a two-run single.
Nola (3-1) gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits to go along with two walks and three strikeouts over three plus innings of work.
Rochester starter Tyler Duffey (4-4) allowed two hits over six scoreless innings while walking five and fanning six.
The Pigs' five hits came courtesy of singles from Russ Canzler, Chase d'Arnaud, Chris McGuiness, Gabriel Lino and Edgar Duran.
Lehigh Valley's Aaron Altherr went 0-4 and saw his hitting streak come to an end at eight games.
LHP Cesar Jimenez (2.0 IP, 2 K), RHP Dustin McGowan (1.0 IP, BB, 2 K), RHP Nefi Ogando (1.0 IP, BB, 2 K) and RHP Tyler Knigge (1.0 IP, H, BB, K) combined to toss five scoreless frames in relief for the IronPigs.
