
Philadelphia Union to Introduce Midfielder David Accam on Tuesday

Press conference to announce new Designated Player set for Tuesday at 2:00 from Talen Energy Stadium;
Union also announce opening week's training schedule as 2018 preseason begins
CHESTER, Pa. (Jan. 22, 2018) - Philadelphia Union have announced their training schedule for Jan. 22-28. The club will begin their first week of training for the 2018 season at both the University of Pennsylvania and Power Training Complex Grounds in Chester, Pa.
DAVID ACCAM INTRODUCTORY PRESS CONFERENCE
On Friday, January 19, Philadelphia Union acquired midfielder David Accam from the Chicago Fire in exchange for a total of $1.2 million in allocation money. Primarily a winger, Accam joins the Union following three seasons with the Fire, over which he scored 33 goals and added 15 assists. Since he came to MLS in 2015, Accam is one of just six MLS players to total at least 33 goals and 15 assists in league play. He is joined in that club by the last three MLS Landon Donovan MVP Award winners in Sebastian Giovinco, David Villa and Diego Valeri, as well as Ignacio Piatti and Kei Kamara.

David Accam will be introduced by the club in his first media availability on TUESDAY, Jan. 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the press conference room at Talen Energy Stadium. He will be joined by Sporting Director Earnie Stewart and Head Coach Jim Curtin. Members of the media planning to attend should RSVP with Matt Bodiford in order to receive the most up-to-date timing information.

Philadelphia Union Head Coach Jim Curtin will speak at David Accam's introductory press conference on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018. Curtin will not speak to the media after training on Tuesday.
CJ SAPONG MEDIA REQUESTS
CJ Sapong has been called up by the United States Men's National Team for its annual January training camp. Set to run until January 29, the camp takes place at StubHub Center in Carson, California and includes an international friendly on January 28 vs. Union teammate Haris Medunjanin and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Media requests for Sapong while he is away must be made through U.S. Soccer PR.
