Pheasants Lose Series Finale in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG, Manitoba. - The Winnipeg Goldeyes scored early and often in route to a 12-1 defeat of the Sioux Falls Pheasants on Thursday afternoon in Winnipeg. Winnipeg took three of four games in the series.

Winnipeg never trailed after Kody Kaiser's solo home run in the first inning. The Goldeyes scored single runs in each of the first three inning and then piled on nine runs in the fourth and fifth. Seven different Goldeyes had multi-hit afternoons, led by Wes Long's 4-for-5 performance with a home run and five RBI.

The Pheasants' only run came from Reggie Abercrombie's solo home run in the third inning, his 14th round-tripper of the season. The Pheasants mustered just three hits in the game. Winnipeg starter Isaac Hess (6-3) pitched the first eight innings for his sixth win.

Pheasants starter Adam Cowart (5-6) suffered the loss, allowing all 12 runs before exiting after the fifth inning.

The Pheasants begin a three-game series at home against the Sioux City Explorers at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, August 12 at Sioux Falls Stadium.
