Adirondack Phantoms News Release
PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Phantoms today launched Phantoms Children's Book Week, encouraging fans to help promote the love of reading among children in the greater Philadelphia region.
The Phantoms have partnered with Miss Delaware, Vincenza Carrieri-Russo, and her literacy program, Success Won't Wait. The Delaware-based program organizes book drives and redistributes them throughout the community by placing baskets of children's books in waiting rooms and lobbies, creating independent libraries at various facilities, and through special projects such as shipping books to troops overseas and to programs and agencies that benefit children and teens.
As part of Children's Book Week, the Phantoms will be making two visits to area elementary schools. On Wednesday, November 12, Matt Clackson, Jonathon Kalinski and Jonathan Matsumoto will be reading to five kindergarten classes at Lancashire Elementary in Wilmington, DE. On Thursday, November 13, Nate Guenin will be reading to kindergarten students at Glen Acres Elementary School in West Chester, PA.
The week-long effort concludes on Friday, November 14 when the Phantoms host the Hershey Bears at 7:05 at the Wachovia Spectrum. All fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used children's books to the game for donation to Success Won't Wait. For every book fans bring to the game, they will receive a raffle ticket for a drawing to win a Phantoms team-autographed jersey. Carrieri-Russo will be presented with a Phantoms jersey of her own at center ice prior to the game. She will also be greeting fans and signing autographs at the Success Won't Wait table on the concourse, where information will be available about the group's efforts.
In addition, the Free Library of Philadelphia will be on the concourse and fans will be able to sign up for library cards while at the game. Also on hand will be South Jersey author Jennifer Grocki, the author of the Philadelphia Flyers children's book From A To Zamboni: The Alphabet, Hockey Style! The book will be available for sale on the concourse and Grocki will be available to sign copies.
Tickets for the Nov. 14 game, as well as all 2008-09 regular season games, are available by calling 1-800-298-4200 or visiting phantomshockey.com.
The best way for fans to secure a ticket for the final regular season game at the Wachovia Spectrum on April 12, 2009 is to purchase either a game plan package or season tickets. Packages are available now in convenient blocks of 6, 10, 16 and 20 games, as well as pro-rated full season tickets for all remaining home games. All packages receive an impressive list of exclusive benefits, discount prices and the same seat for each game, beginning at just $60!
