Houston Aeros News Release
The Houston Aeros enter this week in a three-way tie with Iowa and Rockford for third place in the West Division with 14 points each. Houston (7-6-0-0) plays game four of the current five-game road trip tomorrow at Grand Rapids at 11 a.m. CST., the first of two 11 a.m. games this season. The Aeros continue on to play Lake Erie Friday night at 6:30 p.m. CST before returning home to host Bridgeport on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. Sunday's game is also the first of Houston Aeros Charities Food Drive. Bring non-perishable items to the next three home games which will be donated to the Houston Food Bank in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday!
Houston had a perfect 2-0-0-0 record against the Grand Rapids Griffins last season and is currently riding a four-game winning streak over the club dating back to the 2006-07 season. Overall the Aeros have a 31-26-7-2 record against the Griffins, including an 8-7-1-0 record from the IHL years. Houston is 14-16-2-0 all-time in Grand Rapids. Corey Locke leads Houston skaters averaging over one point per game with 30 points (9 goals, 21 assists) in 29 games against the Griffins.
In the first season of the Lake Erie Monsters' existence Houston had a perfect 4-0-0-0 record against the club, including two shutouts and a shootout win. The Aeros out-scored Lake Erie eight goals to three, winning three of the contests by only one goal. Aeros' goaltender Barry Brust went 3-0-0 versus the Monsters with a 0.67 goals against average (GAA) and a .974 save percentage. Locke has recorded 14 points (7-7=14) against the Monsters to lead Aeros' skaters.
The Bridgeport Sound Tigers come to Houston this Sunday in the first match-up in six seasons. Houston only played Bridgeport in the 2002-03 season when the Aeros tallied a record of 2-1-1-0 with both wins coming on the road. Houston, having won the last two contests, is on a three-game unbeaten streak (2-0-1) and will look to extend that streak on home ice where Houston has faired well this season (5-1-0-0).
