Petes Sweep Series Versus Kingston with 3-2 Shootout Win

(Kingston, ON) - It took a shootout to do it, but the Peterborough Petes completed the series sweep against the Frontenacs with a 3-2 win Kingston Friday night.

Petes Captain Logan DeNoble opened the game's scoring midway through the first period to put the Petes up 1-0.

Kingston's Jason Robertson tied the game at 1 in the middle of the second frame.

The third period saw Austin Osmanski record his first goal as a Pete before Linus Nyman netted the equalizer with just 1:03 to play in the game.

The games went to overtime, but goaltenders Hunter Jones and Jeremy Helvig were perfect in extra time. The shootout results were as follows:

PBO: Adam Timleck - GOAL

KGN: Sergey Popov - GOAL

PBO: Nikita Korostelev - MISS

KGN: Cody Morgan - MISS

PBO: Logan DeNoble - MISS

KGN: Jason Robertson - MISS

PBO: Jonathan Ang - GOAL

KGN: Bryan Laureigh - MISS

Nikita Korostelev, Semyon Der-Argughintsev and Pavel Gogolev added single assists in the game.

Jones stopped 32 of 34 to win his second start of the season.

"Special teams were huge for us tonight," commented Ang following scoring the game winning shootout goal. "Both our power play and penalty kill units played a huge role."
