Brantford Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Bulldogs won a thriller Saturday night at FirstOntario Centre as they defeated the Kingston Frontenacs 4-3 in a shoot-out.
There was no scoring in the first period even though Hamilton out-shot the visitors 16-3 and dominated play. Kingston scored on a power-play at 3:57 of the second period to take a 1-0 lead after forty minutes.
The offenses kicked into high gear in the third. The Frontenacs took a 2-0 lead at 2:25 only to see the Bulldogs Will Bitten (3) and Brandon Saigeon (4) score sixteen seconds apart to tie the score 2-2 by the 3:24 mark. Kingston re-took the lead at 12:28 only to see Saigeon (5) score again to tie the game 3-3 and send it into overtime.
The Bulldogs were all over the Frontenacs in OT thanks to a power-play, but couldn't score despite out-shooting the opposition 8-2, meaning a shoot-out would be needed to decide a winner. It took five rounds, but Will Bitten and Matthew Strome scored for Hamilton while Kaden Fulcher stopped four of the five Kingston shooters.
3 Stars:
