Peter White Plays in 1000th Professional Game

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH * Utah Grizzlies center Peter White reached a historic milestone tonight when he played in his 1000th professional game in Utah*s 4-1 loss to the Cleveland Barons at the National City Rink at Gund Arena.

White began his professional career back in 1992 with the Cape Breton Oilers after an outstanding collegiate career at Michigan State. During his rookie season with the Oilers, White scored a dozen goals and had 28 assists in 64 games. He also contributed six points (3-3 *6) in 16 playoff games helping Cape Breton win the Calder Cup.

Of his 1000 career games, 220 have been played in the National Hockey League (NHL) splitting time with Philadelphia, Chicago, Edmonton and Toronto scoring a combined 23 goals with 37 assists. His best NHL season came during the 1999-2000 season with Philadelphia when he helped the Flyers to the Eastern Conference finals dressing in 16 playoff games registering two helpers. White was originally a fifth round selection of the Edmonton Oilers in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft.

In his AHL career, the Montreal native ranks among the league*s all-time leaders with 780 points (14th) and 531 assists (7th). Three times White has won the John B. Sollenberger Trohpy as the AHL*s top point scorer and he currently ranks as the Philadelphia Phantoms all-time leader in games played (431), points (462), goals (153) and assists (331).

White also helped the Phantoms to a Calder Cup during the 1997-98 season scoring 105 points (27-78 *105) during the regular season and 18 points (9-9 *18) during 20 post-season games.

This year with the Grizzlies, White leads the team with 42 points (13-29 *42) and was named the team*s Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year at the Grizzlies Annual Awards Banquet held on April 11th.

He joins Terry Virtue as the second Grizzlies player this season to reach the 1000 game plateau.
