Grizzlies Make Several Roster Moves

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH * The Utah Grizzlies announced today that they have signed defensemen Matt Laatsch and Nick Fuher to Amateur Tryouts and that both will be in action tonight when the Grizzlies face the Cleveland Barons at the National City Rink at Gund Arena.

In a separate move, the Grizzlies have re-assigned forward Frantisek Lukes to Idaho (the Grizzlies primary ECHL affiliate) and defensemen Mike Garrow to Mississippi (ECHL) and have released forward Mike Lee from his PTO. Lee will rejoin the Alaska Aces in the ECHL playoffs.

Laatsch, 24, joins the Grizzlies after winning the NCAA Championship with the University of Denver on April 9th. Laatsch scored a goal and had nine assists in 40 games with the Pioneers and assisted on the game-winning goal in the team*s victory over North Dakota in the championship. During his collegiate career, the Lakesville, Minnesota native scored six goals with 23 assists in 109 games with Denver.

Fuher, 24, also played in the NCAA Championship games suiting up for North Dakota. This year with the Fighting Sioux, the Grand Forks, North Dakota native scored seven goals with 20 assists and he too recorded an assist in the championship game assisting on North Dakota*s only goal. In his 153 career games with North Dakota he scored 27 goals with 54 assists and was twice named a member of the All-WCHA Academic Team.

The Grizzlies finish the season with a four-game road trip beginning tonight and concluding on Sunday in Houston. Catch all the action on ESPN Radio-AM 1230.
