
Penguins sign defenseman Ondrej Nemec to ATO

WILKES-BARRE, PA. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today signed defenseman Ondrej Nemec (pronounced AWN-dray NEHM-ihch) to an amateur try-out agreement.
Nemec, 19, recorded six points (2+4) and 30 penalty minutes in 42 games this season with Vsetin of the Czech Extraleague. He also appeared in seven games with the Czech national team at the 2003 World Junior Championships, recording four points (2+2) and eight penalty minutes.
The 6'1", 196-pound native of Trebic, Czech Republic was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round (35th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
